A recent case has brought to my attention once again the importance of addressing this topic. There are many children who have sensitive abilities and may not even know it. They are the prime targets for spirits seeking to communicate or even just make their presence known for good or ill. These kids sometimes have a real hard time. If the child is afraid of spirits then the gift becomes a curse that keeps them in continual terror with no where to turn for help. Many people who become aware that their child is a sensitive will encourage them to develop that gift which in some cases is fine, but it might not always be the best thing to do. With kids who are fearful of the spirit world, the best thing may very well be to teach them how to turn off that ability, at least until they are old enough to handle the strain of what comes along with the gift. I have a case right now which involves a 13 year old girl. this girl is what I believe to be a sensitive and has been seeing and hearing spirits since she was very young. It started as what she thought was a friend, and then others came and as the years went by, this supposed "friend" turned very scary and aggressive. This happens a lot with this kind of spirit attachment. Imaginary friends are something that kids often make up so parents usually do not worry about them. However, when the friend is a man of about 25, and has been communicating with a child for 4 years, I would say that might not be the usual imaginary friend. Now, this family moved into a new neighborhood about a year ago and the "friend" came with, and started to get a bit hostile. Then spirits from the area there, joined in the haunt and now, this poor kid is terrified. Others in the household are hearing ans seeing things too and things are very bad right now.
This poor kid sleeps on the sofa right outside her parent's door, because she is afraid to be in her room, even though her older sister shares the room. She still does not feel safe. This girl, because of her sensitivity has become the focus of spirits that want something or simply want her energy or what have you. We are returning to this case tomorrow night to spend some time with this girl and try and teach her how to shield herself from the consistent onslaught of spirits every night, that seek to disturb her. The biggest problem for all people let alone a child, is to learn to stop being afraid and stop giving a predatory entity their "fear fix." This is one of the hardest things to do here. Both Alexis and I, knowing what it is like to be in this child's position will try to help her to get through it and learn to shield herself. One of my team members Ryan, lives five minutes from these folks and he will be on call if anything else happens after the cleansing we plan to do also, tomorrow night. It may give the clients some solace to know that he is nearby and can be there in five minutes should something start up again. Perhaps this case like some others we had, is going to be a matter of wills, and persistence, to resolve.
The area where this case is, happens to be a notorious haunted spot, which is unlucky for this poor kid. There are many kids like her out there, and we really need to make the effort to help with this kind of thing. This kind of counseling could help so many kids like this one. Very few paranormal teams even acknowledge "sensitivity" let alone try to help along these lines. I think this is something we need to start taking more seriously and learn as much about it as we can, in order to help children and even adults in this predicament. Many children are sensitive to spirit until the age of about 7, when the demands and the distractions of school and the material world become their main focus, shutting down that inborn sentience. Some people literally grow out of it and some don't. For some that door stays open and they are sensitives for all of their life. People like this are magnets for spirits and spirit activity. Many hauntings take place because of the spirits' attraction to people like this. In reality there are more haunted people, than there are haunted houses.
